ST PETERSBURG: Step back in time in Peterhof

ST PETERSBURG: Step back in time in Peterhof

Museum of Court Entertainment, a historical and cultural project of Peterhof Museum is, in a way, a “museum of lost activities”. It is the first integrated exhibition to present various types of Russian court entertainment: from amusement palaces to Peterhof theater, from the emperor’s bicycles to festivities and fiery amusements.

Each theme-based room was created through meticulous work done by the research fellows of the Peterhof Museum. Various media elements such as video installations, interactive touch table and multimedia book as well as light projections all help to reveal the unique nature of the  exhibits including items that belonged to Peter the Great, measuring and nautical instruments, authentic theatrical costumes from the late 18th century, a collection of bicycles that belonged to the imperial family etc. A context for all these authentic objects was created by the leading St.Petersburg artists.

Court Entertainment is a joint project created by the Peterhof State Museum Preserve and Show Consulting Production and Stage Design Studio. The museum is located in one of the former Chevalier Houses and is the Peterhof State Museum’s first facility adapted for the visitors with special needs.
